Darmstadts Fluoreszenzmikroskopie Ausbildungs Center an der Technischen Universität (D’ FACTU) offers a three day workshop for students of all departments interested in fluorescence microscopy. We will introduce basic concepts of fluorescent dyes, physical principles of fluorescence, basic applications in fluorescence microscopy and image analysis.

The workshop is complemented by hands-on sessions where students can acquire first hand practical experience in image acquisition and analysis. Additionally, recent developments in fluorescence microscopy from single molecule to super-resolution microscopy will be presented.

Invited Speakers

  • PD Dr. Karl Rohr, Biomedical Computer Vision Group, BioQuant, IPMB, University of Heidelberg and DKFZ
  • Prof Dr. Rainer Uhl, BioImaging Zentrum (BIZ), LMU München
  • Prof Dr. Mike Heilemann, Single Molecule Biophysics, Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University Frankfurt
  • Dr. Volker Buschmann, PicoQuant Berlin
  • Dr. James McNally, Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie

The D‘FACTU Workshop 2014 will take place:
19th to 21st of May 2014

B2|03 Room 109 for the lectures and talks
B2|03 Room 226 for the hands-on sessions

Students at all levels are welcome. Registration via TUCaN (course no: 10-28-0018).
The participation is credited with 3 CPs.

Lectures are open to everyone!
