First PhD Symposium

2020/10/28

On the 1st and 2nd of October the first self-organized PhD student’s symposium took place online. We had more than 50 members of the Biology department including faculty, post-docs and doctoral students attend the Symposium every day.

The talks were given by 16 PhD students from 12 groups (Blüthgen, Buchholz, Cardoso, Galuske, Jürgens, Kabisch, Lehmhus, Löbrich, Löwer, Nuber, Süss, Warzecha) including the department of Biology and the Paul Ehrlich, and Julius Kühn institutes. We even had students participating that were performing research abroad at laboratories in USA and Sweden. The topics covered by the PhD student speakers were as diverse as the working groups ranging from biomedical topics to ecological networks (please check the program (opens in new tab) for more details). The symposium was organized by the elected PhD student representatives (Karen Pedersen and Ksenia Kolobynina), and will be held again next year, hopefully in person!
