for interdisciplinary research
2021/07/29

An interdisciplinary Team of TU Darmstadt was awarded a “Best Paper Award” for their research in the area of “Evolutionary Combinatorial Optimization and Metaheuristics” during the . The GECCO conference series is a prime ( Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO2021) venue in the field of evolutionary programming – a subfield of artificial intelligence. The team of researchers extended a so called genetic algorithm by a memory mechanism that increased the optimization performance to a surprising degree. A. Worring is student of Computational Engineering, B. Mayer is a PhD student in physics and works at the A ranked , and Lichtenberg-supercomputer of the TU Darmstadt is Professor in the Depts. of Biology, Physics, and Computer Science. K. Hamacher
