Integrative Tissue Biology
Dr. Fatemeh Mirzapour

The Integrative Tissue Biology Lab at the Department of Biology focuses on the development of innovative platforms for in vitro vascularization of 3D tissue constructs, organ-like structures, and tumor spheroids. By recreating functional vascular networks within these constructs, our research aims to deepen our understanding of tissue development, the cellular dynamics underlying drug responses, and the mechanisms driving various diseases. We utilize advanced microfluidic technologies and biomaterial engineering to create biologically relevant models that not only provide insights into fundamental biological processes, but also have potential for translation into medical applications. Our work aims to contribute to the advancement of personalized medicine by providing new tools for more accurate disease modeling and the development of patient-specific therapeutic strategies.
