On Monday, November 3, 2025, we held our annual Biosciences Symposium for Postdocs and PhD students in the department. We would like to thank all the scientists for coming, for their keen interest, their inspiring discussions, and for their commitment on the day. Special thanks go to the organizers and the scientists who presented a poster or gave a lecture. We are already looking forward to the next symposium in 2026 and to seeing you there again!

Presentation of a 360° learning concept for biology lessons

How can classrooms and laboratories be connected? At the INTERXR conference in Braunschweig, the Biology Learning Lab and HDA E-Learning presented their immersive 360° lab tour—an innovative concept that transports students directly into the lab via VR glasses. With its practical presentation, cost-effective implementation, and great research potential, the project generated enthusiastic feedback and exciting discussions.

The Biology Department's orientation week will take place from 06.10. to 10.10.2025.

Das Lernlabor unseres Fachbereiches gibt es nun auch nachhaltig als virtuelles Labor für unsere Campusschulen.

Am Montag, den 28.04.2025, organisiert die hessische QuiS-Servicestelle von 11:00 bis 13:00 Uhr einen Online-Workshop für QuiS-Beteiligte aller hessischen Hochschulen. Der Workshop wird von den Kolleginnen Karen Rätz und Eva Weyer vom Fachbereich Biologie der TU Darmstadt geleitet und basiert auf Ergebnissen des QuiS_Flex-Teilprojekts Career2Bio.

On Thursday, May 15, 2025, Patrick Heun and Sebastian Hess will give their inaugural lectures at the Department of Biology at TU Darmstadt, marking the beginning of their professorships.

TU Darmstadt honours outstanding best-practice models

Since 2010, the Carlo and Karin Giersch Foundation has awarded the ‘Athena Prize for Good Teaching’ to individuals, groups or organisational units that have introduced exemplary and outstanding formats in academic teaching. The prizes are endowed with a total of 46,000 euros.
